A Qualitative Study on Music Therapy and Children with Down Syndrome

Abstract

Since the use of music therapy, with children with Down Syndrome, is a viable area of research, this study presents a qualitative analysis. Through interviews, three licensed musical therapists discussed their experiences using music therapy as an intervention with children with Down syndrome. Analysis of their responses indicate the effectiveness of the therapeutic approach in improving the children’s development, particularly in the areas of communication and social interactions.
