The inherent nature of a competition is an exhibition of ability in accordance with a set of circumstances and regulations to create an environment that compels competitive game play in order to best an opponent. Through a scoring mechanism unique to it, a competition assigns its values by means of wins and losses. Perhaps unknowingly, such competition unifies as well as divides. Aside from the inevitable separation of winners from losers, competition can divide men and women. In this modern era that features rising gender equality, taking a deeper look into how men and women interact in the face of competition could reveal important truths about the female perspective.
