He is a doctor fresh out of residency with a hero complex that is quickly destroyed after he fails to save his patients from a horrible disease. The reader watches the doctor fall into anxiety and a depressive state as he’s forced to shift his mental framework from his own eyes and those of the people around him, including a dying patient, a nurse, and his partner. It is an exploration into the forced perfection of physicians and the harmful effects of the hero complex that many physicians carry. Mainly, however, the purpose of this thesis was to learn how to write a novel.en-USBaylor University projects are protected by copyright.
