Abstract

Reminders and recalls for vaccine appointments through communication technologies such as phone calls and text messages are well-received and effective evidence-based methods to improve vaccination rates (Morris et al., 2015; Francis et al., 2017; Henrikson et al., 2018). As electronic medical records and mobile technology use is consistently rising, it is more feasible for clinical practices to implement technical reminder systems (Morris et al., 2015). The purpose of this integrative literature review is to answer the following clinical question: does a text message reminder system effectively improve HPV vaccination rates in eligible children 9 through 26 years of age who have an HPV dose due compared to having no communication technology interventions?
