This thesis presents five short stories that have been translated from the original Spanish versions into English. Though some of these short stories are widely known and celebrated throughout the Spanish-speaking world, these small insights into cultures and experiences of Spanish speakers throughout the world remains largely unfamiliar to most native English speakers. Therefore, this sampling of short stories from different authors, different time periods, and different countries is designed to give the English reader a brief and general overview into the breadth of culture and experience that the Spanish language encompasses in a manner that is easily understandable and enjoyable to read.en_US
