| dc.description.abstract | Our world is obsessed with normal, but it is also fascinated with the anomalous. We go through our day to day lives and forget how blessed we are with our bodies, our minds, our functions. In these four stories, I explore what is considered to be outside the realm of normal. Disabilities are stereotyped in our world filled with judgments. The goal of these short stories is to portray people living with disabilities as people. It is simple. No one knows how to interact with someone who has Down syndrome, probably because they do not understand it. Through working at a camp for people with different abilities, I learned that the differences are minimal. Physically we may be different, but we are all human. | en_US |
