This thesis will consist of a breakdown of the Japanese genre of isekai, as well as justifications for why it should be used in the accompanying script. Both my personal and professional goals will be noted, as well as the influences that strengthened the story. Film has always been designed as a platform for the everyday person to be transported to a realm where they can not only learn, but grow as a person, from the short hour-and-a-half experience they’ve chosen to be a part of. The screenplay, Donnie Found a Portal in the Backyard, will emphasize this school of thought.
